As I’ve written about previously, the concept of “balance” is becoming very prevalent in my life recently. Because we have so many businesses, our work-life has been the predominant focus of our lives. However, as you’ll read, we’re actively making some changes to begin to bring a little more balance into our lives.
Second Careers
In 2011, I retired from my first career as an IT project manager. Since that time, Kent and I have started several concurrent “second” careers with the title of “business owner” with Eclectic Verve, Eclectic Horizons, and Something on the Way Publishing. Kent has continued his role as the CEO of a manufacturing company, for which I also provide some accounting support.
The number of “pluses” associated with owning our businesses are too numerous to count, not the least of which has been how much I enjoy working primarily from home. However, the biggest downside to owning and running home-based business(es) is that the businesses have become integrated into the fabric of our lives so that work-life / home-life balance is even harder to find and maintain.
Balancing the Neediest Parts
Kent and I are constantly picking up the neediest part of our lives and caring for that aspect, until it is satisfied, and then moving onto the next neediest thing.
More and more, the effort of working all the time (7 days/week)—from trying to creatively think about how we can grow Kent’s primary job, our band, our publishing company, and our psychic medium business, to fulfilling tasks in all of those businesses, to thinking about diet and exercise, to getting the day-to-day tasks like dishes and laundry caught up…..It’s all too much.
We only have so many hours in the day, and lately we’ve been pulling ourselves in too many disparate directions. It’s exhausting to pick up and put down the neediest parts of our lives. We’re truly looking for a work-life / home-life balance that is sustainable.
It’s Time for a Change
We’ve kept all of the plates spinning for nearly 5 years without too many shards on the floor, but it’s time for a change.
Kent’s New Direction with Eclectic Horizons
Although Kent delights in working with Maitland and enjoys helping clients communicate with loved ones, he is passionate about music. We now believe Maitland came into our lives to strengthen Kent’s connection to Spirit, to enhance his songwriting. I think he’s always received inspiration from Spirit, but by developing psychically and working with Maitland to learn to trance channel, this creative endeavor of songwriting has become stronger.
Kent is grateful to all of his clients who have allowed him the honor of working with them and their spiritual teams. However, for now, Kent’s sabbatical is a permanent one. We will be exhibiting at two fairs this fall and then we will be done with fairs for a while. Kent will no longer provide one-on-one readings outside of these two fairs. His role with Eclectic Horizons will become solely “behind the scenes”. However, you will still be able to read some of his work with Maitland and other members of his spiritual team, because he will continue to receive and transcribe the monthly Spirit communication messages.
Cindy’s New Direction with Eclectic Horizons
I’m still evaluating how I can achieve the most enjoyment, balance all aspects of my life, provide the best services to clients, and create the best products for our customers.
I plan to continue my work with Spirit in my capacity as a medium offering one-on-one sessions. However, right now, Eclectic Verve requires a lot more of my time to bring new products to fruition and to market and sell those products. Therefore, my availability for private readings is limited. In September, I will be unable to offer any one-on-one sessions outside of the Denver Body Mind Spirit Celebration Fair this weekend.
We’re Grateful for YOU!
In addition to our weekly blog posts, we will continue to communicate with you on a monthly basis through our newsletter. We are grateful for our relationships with our clients and will continue to show our appreciation through our newsletter by providing you with interesting content, awarding free readings, giving books away, and sharing our music with you.
