Following is another excerpt from “An Evening with Maitland” about reincarnation.
Event Attendee: I find it really interesting that you say that you decided you didn’t want to come back to another life on Earth, that you wanted to stay Home. I didn’t feel a specific reason for that when you explained that but I’m very curious about when you call it quits, I guess or why, or how close that might be. Not the death part, but just the not coming back.
Maitland: I like that question. That’s a very good question, because it is confusing. I like to explain it as… to remember that we always have free will, and so sometimes as humans we like to put judgments on things and so one of those things even is karma. When we talk about karma a lot of times we feel like it’s this force or this “law of the universe” that everyone has to abide by and to a certain extent you know, everything in the universe is energy and energy has balance you know all energy has a positive and it has a negative, it has polarity, that kind of thing and so, when you do one action, a lot of times you feel like, “Ok, I have to balance it by doing this other action.” …I know I’m kind of getting off on a different track from your question but the reason I bring that up is that we all have a choice so there’s no one or no force or something that makes you do anything. So when you decide to reincarnate, it’s not because you have to because oh I had this lifetime and I did some things that I didn’t like or I did things “wrong”, because remember that’s a human thing. Judgment is human thing. When you’re Home there is no judgment with God, so the only judgment we have is with ourselves. So you may choose to want to come back and balance something or finish some unfinished business like we call it from a past life. You may choose to do that but remember it’s always your choice. So when you’re back home, you can always look at, “How do I want to grow?” or “What do I want to do to grow or bring myself closer to God or Source that kind of thing and you may decide well I think I want to incarnate and then that’s when you go in to start working with other entities and teachers and they kind of setup well what kind of lifetime is going to help you learn your lessons. These lessons that you choose that you want to learn.
…The reason I decided not to incarnate that was my choice. I had fun as a little girl in that one lifetime and after that I decided, “You know, I think I just want to be a guide.” And so that was my choice to try to learn and help teach people from this side.
