From one of Kent’s meditations with Spirit…
Spirit: Remember that words have meaning.
But what is the meaning of a word? At some point you were taught what the word meant, a definition, in order to communicate with each other. But did you also know that words have energy? This is a product of the spiritual world, because in the spiritual world, we do not communicate with words we communicate with energy and thoughts. You could consider it almost like a download. You understand everything instantaneously, you don’t have the clunky apparatus of language to deal with.
However, since you do in this world, here is a quick tip to help you when dealing with words and the energy behind them. When you feel energy attached to words, these are learned primarily from associations within your brain and your nervous system.
Take the word “stubborn” for instance. If someone said to you, “Well, aren’t you stubborn?” How would you react to that? What would your reaction be? Obviously it could depend on the tone and the energy with which the statement was given to you. However, the primary reaction and emotion within you is determined by yourself. You react to the world around you and your reactions are wired into your nervous system. And you are responsible for how it is wired. So, the key is to be sensitive to the energy in which the words are given so that you understand where the person is coming from but once it is given to not react automatically in a way that leads down a path you do not wish to go.
For our example, the word “stubborn” can have different meanings depending on how you react to it. On the one hand, “stubborn” by definition means the refusal to change. If this pattern of behavior is impacting your growth and progression well then this could be seen as a negative in so far as there are positives and negatives (a topic for another time). However, a refusal to change and being stubborn as in tenacity in pursuit of a goal or quest is a very positive thing.
So which do you gravitate to first? Is it for the positive or the negative? Look at these reactions within yourself and realize that all emotions are just mirrors of oneself and you learn about yourself. You can decide, “Is this how I want to react?” If not, remember that you are the one that programmed the reactions. It’s just that you did it subconsciously over time.
Now it is time to take charge and decide consciously how you want to react to things. It takes some practice and it won’t happen overnight. You didn’t build these associations overnight. But just being aware of them will allow you to begin to take charge and help you feel empowered.
